The Faith and Fantasy Alliance exists to advocate for Christians who create science fiction and fantasy content, and this includes books, paintings, and more. The Parable Award is the FFA’s way of honoring excellence in cover design.


Eligibility Criteria


The contest opens on January 1, 2017. Entries will be accepted for three weeks.


The deadline for submissions is Sunday, January 22, at 12 midnight (EST).


The entry fee is $25. Artists and authors may enter any number of cover designs, but the entry fee must be paid for each submission.

The illustrator who is responsible for the winning cover will receive a commemorative plaque and a cash prize of $100.


The book must be in a speculative genre (sci-fi, fantasy, or any of their numerous subgenres)


The book must have been written by a Christian author, who agrees to the Realm Makers Statement of Faith.


Only books published between January 1, 2016 and December 31, 2016 are eligible, whether traditionally published and independently published. Both e-books and printed editions qualify.

  • New covers for a subsequent edition of a previously-published book do not qualify.
